Customer Reviews

Just got this tower heater today. Observations so far:

-I deducted a star because it's a bit wobbly on carpet and on ceramic tile. It's probably too heavy to tip easily, but it bears mentioning. It's quite tall. The space saving of a tower heater is perfect for my small motorhome, so I live with wobble. No idea how this could be corrected without creating unwanted bigger footprint or weight.

-I put it in a different place during the day, so the carry handle is convenient.

-It seems to be more powerful than my smaller Lasko tower heater, even though the watt settings are the same as the smaller heater. Maybe it's more efficient.

-The front definitely needs to be located a yard from any flammables, because the heat coming out is too hot to hold my hand two feet in front of it, even on low, for more than a few seconds.

-The remote is simple to use. The remote's buttons could be more differentiated for easier operation in the dark.

-The controls on the heater itself are cheesy looking, and the engraved silver-on-silver labels are difficult to read in shadow.

-I would like to have the thermostat work on the low setting. In both my Lasko towers the thermostat works only on high. Freeze or fry.

-The heat and blower can't be felt at the bottom foot or so. I can put it almost anywhere, and it won't bother the cat on the floor. The downside is that the lowest part of the room isn't heated.

-There's a clip on the back that holds the remote. It would be great for Lasko to include a second one of those cutom fitted clips to be able to attach to a wall to hang the remote near where it will actually be used.

I phoned Lasko to get some help comparing the various heaters, of which they list 19 in the tower design alone. Basically I was told I had to figure it out myself from whatever product descriptions they provided online. Fortunately Home Depot online makes an effort to help compare multiple products; although, it's limited to what they offer, of course. Both HD and Walmart carry this model, but neither had it in stock. Prices were the about the same, and I saved tax and shipping with my Prime membership by purchasing through Amazon.
We were looking for another space heater and a friend recommended the Lasko Ceramic Tower. We purchased a later model, and there were some improvements, such as the carring handle. It is light weight and easy to carry to different locations. It does a very good job of heating the room. We live in North West Tennessee and with the combination of another space heater, we have not used our furnace at all this year. The electric bill has dropped dramatically. We will be purchasing another Lasko next winter. Lasko 5572 Ceramic Tower Heater with Logic Center Remote Control
I recently purchased the LASKO 5568 and liked it so much I decided to get another; wound up getting this model instead and can't say enough good things about it. The design is well conceived, solid quality construction, and very effective. Throws out a considerable amount of heat, the fan is very quiet at both high and low, and the options for operation are all useful and work well. Lasko seems to manufacture a series of these ceramic tower units and all are very well reviewed; I checked the review on bestcovery.com and this unit was rated number 1, and for good reason. I use both these heaters in larger rooms (14 X 26) with 9 ft. ceilings and they are effective in taking off the chill and keeping the room comfortable. The fan on this model is so quiet on low I can barely hear it, yet it continues to put out a steady stream of hot air. Appears to be a quality product built to last, and at $68 you get a LOT for your money, I rate this a best buy as well.
I purchased this to heat some space in my small two car garage. The unit would run for 10 minutes and then shut off, seems like it went into protection mode as I followed the instructions, unplugged waited 10 minutes and it would work again for another 10 minutes. This heater is strictly a radiant heater, not sure why it oscillates if it doesn't blow heat.
When comparing to : http://www.amazon.com/Lasko-5365-30-Inch-Space-Saving-Pedestal/dp/B000U96FA0/ref=pd_ys_iyr1 , this heater was returned. Here are my personal reasons why this heater was less satisfactory.

The cord is a few inches shorter (not by much, but enough that I noticed). Since it's not recommended to use an extension cord, this was important to me since outlet location isn't always ideal. When placed where I intended to use, the cord was taunt. When I placed the other heater (the 5365) in the same position, there was still some give to the cord.

Also, this heater is more heavy/bulkier in comparison again to the other heater. The other heater is lighter, because the quality may not be as state of the art or "solid"....but you get what you pay for. This heater was more expensive (by $10-15), so the product I'd expect to be more quality plastics hence more in weight. For me personally, when weighing out all factors, I chose the light weight heater over this heavier one just because that was another pro for me.

The heat output can be felt 2ft away. The same is true for the 5365, with an additional 1/2 ft. potentially. The actual element or heat surface area on the heater itself it skinny and long. The actual measurement of the element itself is not even 1 1/2 " across (width)....it's 15" down (length). The grill that contains the element is 23" length (height) by 3 1/2 " across (width). From the base/ground, the element starts 10" up. Total measurment of heater itself if 28 1/2-29" tall (height) by 5 1/2 " across (width). By adding another inch or two on the width, includes the swivel/oscillating part of the heater.....look at picture to see.

Here are the comparison measurements to the heater I'm keeping (the 5365). 27" tall, by approx 7" across. The element (which was important to my decision) is 9" length by 2"across. This I felt gave out my output of heat to be felt_wider range. I sat with both running side by side and felt the heat from this 5572 model heater, but it was less powerful than the heat felt from the 5365 model. The grill size containing the element is 15" length by 5 1/2 " across.

Prior to my decision, I placed this 5572 model ontop of an end table-to give it more height. Indeed it blew more across me at sitting level, and heated the immediate area of the room a tad, but I didn't want to have to due that..... for the risks involved of it being elevated. The 5365 model is on a pedestal, and the element relation gives it an advantage to blow across me when seated without having to elevate it.

No matter what, both these heaters wont heat the room per say (since both were tried and tested in my 20 ft ceiling living room), but the intended use for me, is simply to have heat blowing across me while watching t.v in that room. So if you're like me and live in a home where the ceilings are high, keep in mind "any" ceramic heater is mostly intended to heat youself, not the room !! It will try and read the ambient temp in the room and falsely due so depending on heater location. It does what it's intended to do in a small room, but again, for large rooms and or high ceilings, it's only purpose it to blow heat across quite frankly.

When used in a room with the door slightly closed, the results are most obvious...this heater will heat up the room and shut itself off once the temp is reached and or go into low mode.

The "sound/fan" is typical white noise, but very quiet. The one I'm keeping is a touch louder, but again, more output, so of course just a touch louder.....still not annoying or distracting....a quiet buzzing fan sound. I watch t.v with it on and have not problems. Even with the t.v off it's a nice relaxing fan sound that lulls me to sleep. Depends how sensitive one is to sound. I live off a major road with traffic whizzing by all day, so I'm used to constant sound. It can't be heard unless you're so many feet close to it....when it's on in the 20ft ceiling area, directly above in the loft, it can't be heard at all. So I'd imagine in a small room, it would be heard.....but it is a wind generating heater/fan, so of course there will be a sound.

Hopefully this comparison to the heater I'm keeping helps. Ultimately you all make your own decisions. But I'm happier with my cheaper Lasko heater and will be returning "this" Lasko heater.
My bedroom averages 56 degrees in the winter. I freeze when getting dressed or when I first get into bed. I now set the heater to 65 degrees and in no time the large bedroom is cozy even though there are cathedral ceilings. I'm sure if I wanted the room warmer the tower would bring the temperature up higher. I also like the way the Lasko 5572 oscillates. I would recommend this heater to anyone who needs to heat a room and keep it at a consistent temperature.
It has no tip over sensor! I would not have purchased this product if I had known that. Other than than, excellent heater.
i could not get it to work. as soon as it would start to heat up it would shut off. then you have to unplug it and wait 10 to 15 minutes to try it again and the same thing would happen.
My office at work has no heat - literally and because the walls are brick, I feel like I'm in a meat locker during the winters. I purchased this heater with the intention of heating up the entire office; however, I find that unless the heater is directly facing me, and in close proximity, it doesn't do much. Unfortunately, I find that after a short while of hot air blowing directly on me, it becomes uncomfortable and I need to move it further away from me. When I do that, I very quickly get cold again, so it is a never ending cycle. Otherwise, it works great.
I am impressed with this heater. I purchased 2 in fact. The one down side is that it does not have a tip over switch (otherwise I would give it 5 stars). We have a family room with 3 walls of windows that gets cold in the winter. This heater does a very good job heating the room. I have purchased many portable heaters over the years and have noticed on the ceramic tower heaters you have to check closely how much is actually part of the heating unit and how much is just part of the plastic housing. It has a good fan that can spread the heat well.
I've had The Tower Heater for 30days and it has been working great in the space that it is being used in. I appreciate the timer option so that I don't leave the unit running all day or all night. I can set it for an hour or longer. It replaced another heater that wasn't working due to over use and dust collection. This is the first time that I have purchased a LASKO product and will be interested in finding out how long it lasts and what the maintenance will be.
The first delivery came without the remote and Amazon sent one out immediately without hassle. This is a wonderful and niffy little heater perfect for what it is designed for: to heat the small space where you are sitting ....... at workstation, reading a book on your sofa, or next to the table to warm your feets while having a closy conversation good friends ......... the design is not bad and neither is it noisy .......... another happy product bought from Amazon !
I like this product a lot. It gives off good heat and it's quiet. But, when i first started using it, it kept tripping my circuit. I had plugged it into a 15-amp outlet along with other appliances. After a few days, I moved it to a 20-amp circuit (with nothing else plugged in) and that solved the problem. If you plan on buying this heater, make sure you have access to an outlet with a circuit large enough to handle it (20-amp seems good). You can't use extension cords with space heaters, so you will need it to be pretty close to the correct outlet.
This was purchased as a replacement for a home shop heater. Does a terrific job, has lot of features and is very quiet. Wonderful choice
I bought the Lasko 5572 Ceramic Tower heater because it was ranked the number one heater at Bestcovery. Anyway, IT RULES. It is so incredibly powerfully warm I, the coldest person on earth, am finally hot. HAWT even. I am a connoisseur of space heaters due to my cold disposition, and this is hands down the warmest I have ever been.

Thanks Lasko! You rule.
I bought this heater for my son who is on dialyses .When he gets home from the treatment he usually is cold .Sits next to it and all is well
Has no tip over cut-off -- Should not be allowed to be sold -- If it falls over, it will keep burning -- your house!!!
I purchased the Lasko 5572 Ceramic Tower Heater as a replacement for using the ancient floor furnace that is in my studio apartment. This building was built in the 20's and has not been updated, so the floor furnace is gas powered and does not have a thermostat; I would have to turn it on in the evening and get it really hot and then turn it off before going to sleep, but by time I woke up in the morning it was freezing in my place.

Anyways, so I searched on Amazon for a heater with a remote. I read reviews and found that this unit had decent reviews. I liked that it was energy efficient, and that it had 2 modes and an automatic thermostat setting. It arrived quickly and undamaged. I pulled it out of the box and plugged it in. It is very easy to use. The buttons are all fairly self explanatory, and the directions on how to set it to automatic were easy to understand. I tried it out just briefly, as it was daytime and not cold yet. It heated the air quickly in front of it and you could feel its radiance a good distance away from it. When I used it for the first time at night, I was very pleased. The automatic feature works well, and I love the fact that it clicks on the low setting every once in a while for added warmth and is able to keep track of the temperature and turn on and off accordingly. The low setting is very quiet and the high setting is not bad either. I am able to sleep with it on the high automatic setting even with it shutting on and off.

My only complaint is that the remote feels kind of cheap and tends to be a little wonky. I thought it was broken for a bit because all of a sudden one day it was not responding, but when I hit the power button on the remote (did not matter if the unit was on or off, nor did it affect the unit yet) it finally responded. So now I know that sometimes I have to do that before I can use the remote with the unit. I also notice that if I am not pointing the remote quite directly at the front of the unit, it does not respond, although the remote itself may say that it changed a setting. For instance, I will have turned on my heater manually and set it to oscillate. Then when I am ready to turn it to automatic mode using the remote I will pick up the remote and hit the temperature up or temperature down button which will show on the remote as having changed, but the unit itself did not receive the signal. I have to make it a point to be very direct with the remote to the receiver in order to be sure to get a response.

I recommend this product for anyone wanting heat for a smaller room. I close the door to my hallway and bathroom to keep the heat in better and I have not had any cold sleepless nights while using this heater.
It was getting really cold in my room (below 60F) so i decided to buy a heater.
my room is exactly 13ft x 11ft and has low ceiling.

After some research, i chose Lasko 5572 (Best looking, newest model, good reviews)
*I care (a lot) about design and aesthetics of the products i purchase.

It was delivered within 3 days (free standard shipping)

the box was intact and the packaging was neat.

assuming that i would have to assemble it (a lot of tower fans, heaters previously bought had to be assembled)
I was surprised it was all ready to go. no assembly needed!

i plugged it in immediately after taking it out of the box and turned it on.
it blew hot air instantly and i was very pleased.

within 10 minutes, my room was warm and cozy. (72~75F)

It works so well. i love it.
you should get one too if you want a nice looking, portable heater that kicks ass.
Use it in my office - quite, heats well and warms a cold room pretty quickly. The only challenge is with the controls / thermostat and regardless of the setting it keeps heating well beyond the settings and I have to eventually turn it off then turn it on again later as the room cools.
I live in a basement and I had a previous Lasko Heater same model and stuff.. One of my friends come to visit me and he fall in love with the heater but this particular one I used to have got 3 years old. So then my friend asked me for sell my old one to him because he lives in a room. So I sell to him and i bought a new one. Today i received the new heater and honestly, this is like an oven. If it was not for the fact that the heater has a temperature sensor and an automatic temperature regulation, I might be sweating for sure. This heater.. Easily can heat up a very large area, I guess can even heat up a whole living room of a big house with no problem. This can works for you because it works perfect in a big or small area.. The work is simple. put the desire temperature and that's all you need to do.. if the temperature goes down, the heater automatically will start working. If reaches the desired temperature, the heater will be in standby with the digital thermometer working all the time. If you are a person who cannot sleep because of the sound. switch the heater to a low speed and it will keep your place warm. I personally preffer the automatic so you have your temperature.. all the time.
I purchased this particular ceramic heater several years ago either locally or via lasko.com.
When I returned to the website and/or store to purchase another one - it was not available nor
was it available online. I purchased another Lasko heater, but it is not of the same quality as
the Lasko 5572, needless to say I have learned from my first experience and have purhcased two
of these from Amazon.com so that I have a backup. The first Lasko 5572 is still operating to full
capacity so in essence I have 3 of these most wonderfully dependable and quality heaters.
I bought this heater with hopes of it heating better than the previous, smaller Lasko heater. Although it does the job, it is no better than the less expensive, shorter version. Both Lasko's I purchased are very good heaters for a large or small room but I would not spend the extra $$ on the taller model.
This heater works well. It makes some noise because of the fan, but no more that a window air conditioner unit. I do not find the noise to be loud or distracting and I can fall and stay asleep while it is running. It works well and maintains the temperature. A few things to consider:

- do not get this unit if you have pets or small children as there is no tip over turn off feature.
- the remote stopped working. This is not a big deal for me, as I can use the buttons on the top, but might be for others.
- the temperature on the unit will not match the actual temperature of the room, but this is the case for most small heaters. Just set it at the number that is comfortable for you and it stays there pretty reliably.

I am happy with my purchase and would buy again.
This heater is good and keeps room warm. But the temperature settings doesn't indicate correct readings. if u set it up at 74 , temperature goes to 75 or 76. so if we want 74, we need to keep 72.It goes +2 and -1 than the set reading. But it keeps the room warm. It can be controlled by remote.
I got this heater to try to save on heating costs. My flatmate has a very similar, slightly older model that she was very happy with. Mine worked well once or twice, but the third time, a few minutes after I plugged it in, the power went out. This happened a bunch more times, so now I don't really ever use it. The cord gets quite warm before it blows the fuse. The manual recommends plugging it into a pristinely wired and tight outlet, which might be the problem for me in my rather old apartment building. I'd recommend getting a model without the remote control--they seem to be less capricious.
I knew when I bought this (based off other customer reviews), that this product probably would not be very effective in our living room that has 20 ft ceilings. BUT, it is our coldest room in the house, so I went for it anyway. It did help a bit, but I would say the cost of electricity to run it offset any savings we got on our gas bill. I think it would be very effective in a small room with lower ceilings (e.g. a bedroom or den).
I finally bought this heater at Lowe's after having ordered it from Amazon. The Amazon experience has been horrible--ad continues to be.

First, the heater: It's the second Lasko I own. This heater is being used to heat a 22 x 12' room with no other heat source. It does a great job of heating the room and it uses very little electricty when I run it (I have an electricity smart meter and monitor my usage daily.)

Secondly, Amazon: They didn't bother to package it, they just sent it out in it's original (and flimsy) box. Needless to say, it was a busted and twisted mess when we received it. First strike against Amazon.
Started the return process. Was told by Amazon UPS would pick it up last Friday. No UPS. We waited because of the holiday weekend. Was called by UPS on Sunday and told they would pick it up between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday. Waited all day Monday--no UPS. Waited all day Tuesday--no UPS.
Asked Amazon to call us Tuesday night. They did call--then after we told the woman who called our problem, she said the address for pick up was correct and then promptly hung up on us. Now, mind you, we were pleasant and polite--no cause was given for her to abrubtly end the call.
So, we went online to ask for a second call--and lo and behold the customer service person had already posted that everything had been taken care of. It had not. We requested another call.
Got the second callback. This time the customer service rep (a different rep from the first call) said she'd take care of everything with UPS or, if her shift ended, she'd have her manager take care of it. We would be notified that everything was taken care of by email.
Next morning we checked our email. UPS had NOT been contacted by Amazon. In fact, the only thing Amazon appears to have done is post the contact number for UPS pick ups.
All in all, a disastrous performance by Amazon.
We've been good Amazon customers but this experience has put us off of the site. While I'm certain we'll use Amazon at times in the future, our first choice is going to be a vendor other than Amazon and the Amazon Marketplace.
